It is easy to travel to Hamburg, by air, rail or car.

Every day, there are over 400 flights to Hamburg Airport – one of the most technically advanced airports in Europe. Over 50 airlines connect Hamburg with 112 national and international destinations. Hamburg can be reached via direct flights from many European cities as well as New York, Dubai and Shanghai. Major airlines such as Lufthansa, Air France, KLM, United Airlines, British Airways, and Emirates offer connections via Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, New York, London and Dubai to most parts of the world, making Hamburg easily reachable from all continents. Low cost carriers Easyjet, Germanwings, TUIfly, and Flybe fly direct to Hamburg and Ryanair flies to nearby airports in Bremen and Lübeck. The airport is well connected with the city centre by the underground, which takes only 20 minutes and is low-priced.

High-speed trains (so-called ICE) offer frequent connections between Hamburg and many cities in Germany and in neighbouring European countries. Many stop at the Dammtor station near the congress venue, as well as the main station Hauptbahnhof. In addition, there are many inexpensive offers for rail-and-fly-tickets to the airports in Frankfurt, Berlin and other cities.

Finally, travellers who prefer to drive by car can approach Hamburg from the east, west north or south on the famous autobahn. However, it should be noted that it is often difficult to find a place to park in Hamburg. There are parking lots in the garage of the CCH ( Hamburg Congress Center ) for 15 EUR per day.

There will be a Welcome team with the ICME-13-logo at the terminals 1 and 2 of the Hamburg-Airport: at Saturday, 23rd July 2016 from 10 a.m to 10 p.m. and Sunday, 24th July 2016, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you have any problems to find other ICME-travelers to share a taxi, please approach the ICME-13 Welcome Team. A taxi to the congress venue CCH (Congress Center Hamburg at Dammtor-Bahnhof) will cost between 25 – 28 EUR and will last around 22 minutes. A taxi shared by 3 persons with luggage is still more expensive than the Underground, but more comfortable. At the airport station of the Underground you will also find (same times as above) a friendly ICME-helper at the ticket machine to help you getting the right ticket! A "One-way-ticket" costs 3.10 EUR; a day ticket (valid between 9 a.m. and 6 a.m. the following day) costs 6 EUR. You will need around 35 minutes to the congress venue with a change of trains; elevators cannot be guaranteed. Please pay attention to have the right ticket, because fare dodging means a fine of 60 EUR.

For your information - we have made a contract with the public transport company to get congress tickets for all participants and accompanying persons, which are valid from the time of registration until the night of 31rd July 2016.
